About the artist...
Mata Ortiz pottery comes from a remote desert village in northern Mexico, where local artists create elegant, hand-built vessels inspired by the ancient Paquimé civilization. These pieces are known for their delicate construction, intricate brushwork, and smooth, burnished surfaces.
