About the artist...

Growing up in a home where artwork covered the walls - especially my Mother’s Carnegie Tech nude studies - seemed totally normal and was great entertainment for my pals.  Mother taught painting to adults in galleries, youth in local schools and also after school in our home.  She taught using a wide range of materials. I embraced them all. As a result, focusing on a single type of art material or medium is no fun for me.

This diversity extends to my subject matter choice - ocean scapes, wildlife especially birds, florals, abstracts, vintage cars and rusted trucks. Denim - old bluejean jeans -  applied to wood panel shapes is a recent series.  3D Fiber sculpture done on a 4 harness floor loom with embellishments sometimes of feathers and leather needs to be included in this spectrum.  Most recently, as you will read below, my paintings are on birch panel using layers of acrylic to set the scene for vigorous free-form designs and precise abstract linear shapes that often appear dimensional.
