About the artist...
Kathleen Yorba is an American abstract figurative painter whose work explores the space between the known and the unknown, the seen and the unseen. Working from memory rather than direct observation, she uses the figure as a way to hold what is remembered, inherited, or only partially understood.
Her paintings are built through a layered, intuitive process. Paint is applied, scraped back, and reworked, allowing earlier marks to remain visible. These traces suggest time, presence, and what remains beneath the surface.
Yorba’s figures are not portraits in the traditional sense. They function as vessels—quiet forms that carry memory and experience, hovering between presence and disappearance. Her work has been shown internationally and is held in public and private collections.
